It is important that systematic reviews are reported in a transparent, complete and accurate way to allow users to be able to assess the trustworthiness and applicability of the results. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 statement is an evidence-based minimum set of items for reporting in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, which has recently been updated.34 It is important that reviewers follow this reporting guidance.
