Once the results of an audit have been entered, the project team can start to identify reasons why practice may have fallen short of the standard. This information can then be used to develop a plan for clinical practice improvement. The GRIP module is aimed at establishing inter-professional processes within teams to examine barriers to the utilisation of evidence to support best practice and to assist in developing implementation strategies to overcome these barriers. As such, it is beneficial to include representation of key stakeholder groups in the situational analysis approach embedded in GRiP.

A team set up process is undertaken before commencing with GRIP. The project leader should be added, select a date to implement action by, and type in stakeholders’ names (and role [optional]).

GRiP should prompt users to carefully think through the compliance results for every audit criterion, discuss these with their team/relevant staff, and prioritise the criteria and decide which to action, and which to park. This should then facilitate identification of barriers, enablers and strategies that link to each other.

To do this in PACES, click +Add Analysis.

For every analysis (multiple analyses can be created), users select an audit criterion, or multiple criteria (as shown below) if they have similar barriers. Click Update

Add a barrier for the selected audit criterion/criteria by clicking Create new

You are able to indicate a domain or category for your identified barrier, link to a resource document, or add an attachment.

In the same way, you can add an enabler and a strategy for addressing the barrier, indicate the domain/category, and add a description with a link to a resource.

You can add as many barriers, enablers and strategies using the same process.

To add more analyses for different audit criteria, click the +Add Analysis on the right hand side.

By clicking the three dot icon on the right hand side, you are able to rename or delete the analysis you created.
